Can't wait for Halloween? - 5 ways to scare yourself silly this week.

Staff Report

A DELTONA GHOST STORY: On the outside, it looked like your typical suburban home.
But inside, Edd and Beth Dunnam believed something otherworldly had taken up residence in their Deltona home. The couple's story caught the eye of the Discovery Channel. One of the network's show's, "A Haunting," spent some time inside the Dunnam house trying to determine
if it is, indeed, haunted. If you're brave enough, find out what was caught on camera tonight at
9 p.m. For the full story, see the Local section.

THEME PARK THRILLS: Don't expect cake at this Sweet Sixteen. Universal Orlando 's Halloween Horror Nights kicks off Friday. To mark its 16th year, Universal is bringing back the creepiest characters from events past, like the Caretaker and Jack the Clown. Seven new haunted houses will make this the theme park to beat when it comes to Halloween scares. Here's a tip: Head there early in the season to avoid the biggest crowds.

WALK HAUNTED STREETS: There's more to Daytona Beach than NASCAR and sunbathers. This town's chock-full of legends, lore and even a ghost or two. You can check out some of our area's most haunted locales nearly every weekend of the year. Haunts of the World's Most Famous Beach (hauntsofdaytona.com or (386) 253-6034) offers walking tours of reportedly haunted sites in Daytona Beach . Reservations required. (And make those reservations early, too. Tours sell out quickly in October.)

THINGS ARE SCARIER IN TEXAS : Why did Leatherface become a sadistic, chainsaw-wielding cannibal? Did he suffer from undiagnosed ADHD as a child? Low self-esteem?
Was he just really, really hungry? It's doubtful we'll find out Oct. 6 at the premiere of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning." (Yeah, we know, that's next week. The release date was pushed back.) It's billed as a prequel, but it looks like more of the same to us. No complaints here, as this is one of the first fright-flicks of the Halloween season.
