Sir Harry W. Wise aka. Florida's Mr. Magic

11/18/1934 - 11/19/1909

It is my sad duty to inform you that Harry Wise, Florida's "Mister Magic" and long time honorary member of Daytona Beach Paranormal Research Group, Inc. , passed away around midnight on Thursday November 19, 2009 in Orange City, Florida after a two year battle with prostate cancer. Harry had just turned 75 the day before and the fact that he did the Midnight Ghost Show and passed away around that same time seemed fitting.

I met Harry through a mutual friend, Tom Begley (another long time supporter and member of DBPRG, Inc.), who also passed away in November of 2005. Harry and I hit it off right away as he had a great sense of humor and understanding of human nature and a keen sense of the mysteries of the universe. Harry's last performance was in June 2009 at his favorite coffee shop in downtown Sanford, where he was born, grew up, performed his first magic show, and lived his entire life. There are displays in the Sanford Historical Society and Seminole County Historical Society about Harry's amazing life and career. There is also a book written about him entitled "A Wizard's Tux and Tales" that goes in depth about just how much this unique soul gave to the world.

I imagine he is now center stage, under the bright spot light, wearing his favorite tuxedo, top hat and cape and performing to a large audience - which is where he always loved to be. Sir Harry W. Wise will be missed by every life he touched. ~ Dusty Smith
